Nour Jbareen: per il progetto NUR – NEW URBAN RESOURCES "Let it Light"

Nour, your work was awarded with the second placement within the competition Let it light. In your work are painted a window, a chair, some plants. What do they represent?

First of all, I would like to thank the Gallery at The Walled Off Hotel and the municipalities of Bethlehem and Turin, who are responsible for the art competition "let it light ". Also, many thanks to the magazine of Lentiapois and everyone who has seen my work and liked it. Actually, my painting took me a year of work to get it ready. This was no coincidence, as I wanted to pass through the four seasons of the year. Every season got a different effect on me and whatever I'am feeling is reflecting on my painting as well. I wanted this painting to be full of feelings and hope. This is where I find myself. My ambition was to collect of all types of plants to revive the place, make it look livable. The chair, the little table, the carpet and the lamp are all things I found on my way in a trash can and I couldn’t walk away without picking them up. The chair has a strong relationship with humans, it is either they choose stability or weakness for themselves. When I was painting those things it always reminded "man's trash is another man's treasure.

What does it mean for you being a Palestinian artist?

A Palestinian artist means giving out a picture of my life or how I want
life to be, a combination between dreams and reality, happiness and
sorrow. Being a Palestinian artist is the bullet I launch with no fear.

What does art represent for you? Is your intention to keep on working in this field?

Art is something we can't give up. Man will always need something to relief himself, and that something would be art. It is every artist's way to express himself and too be able to control the present and the hidden yet wanted future. Creativity is the logo of artificial works. To be an artist requires special capacity to see things in a different way. Because art never goes under any stable conditions, artistes are required to have varieties of new topics shown through their works.

Do you feel near to other young people like you? Do you feel like a higher spirit bringing together your generation beyond any single independent context?

A real artist is different from any other person in that the artist is living by his strong feelings for things around him; also, an artist is usually more sensitive than others, which makes art production his way of reaching the maximum point of happiness.
